Surviving SOGICE is a digital, open-access platform dedicated to raising awareness and promoting policy action on SOGICE—Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Change Efforts—in Europe.
These practices, often referred to as "conversion therapy" or "conversion practices", aim to change, suppress, or repress an individual's sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. Despite being widely discredited, they continue to affect LGBTQIA+ people across the world.
This platform seeks to fill critical knowledge gaps in public understanding and academic research by building an accessible archive of survivor testimonies, media coverage, and related resources in Europe. It serves as a tool for education, advocacy, and awareness.
This project documents the experiences of SOGICE survivors and maps the current landscape of these practices in Europe. Our goal is to create a comprehensive resource that serves researchers, policymakers, and affected communities.
Providing accurate, accessible information about SOGICE practices and their impacts on individuals and communities
Supporting policy change and legal protections against conversion practices across European countries
Raising public consciousness about the ongoing harm caused by these discredited practices
Help us reach more survivors and allies by spreading the word about Surviving SOGICE.
